Craft and Making Education in Scotland Today: Recommendations

This report presents the recommendations from Craft and Making Education in Scotland Today, presented at the Scottish Parliament in April 2023.

The #MAKELearn campaign champions the long term value of teaching craft and making skills from early years through to further education. Through the campaign we are calling for:

• • An entitlement for every primary school child of 10 hours of craft and making in the classroom a year. This is equivalent to 1% of the school year.
  • The inclusion of craft in the Expressive Art curriculum as an addition to the Art and Design Experiences and Outcomes Benchmarks.
